Katherine Wood is from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, and we asked her a few questions about running:
Why do you run?
As a full-time working mom, I run to remind myself that my health and wellbeing is also important. I run because it makes me a better person and a better mom. I run to give my daughter a positive role model and to remind her that strong is beautiful.
Describe your favorite place to run.
My favourite place to run is along the lake in my hometown of Burlington, Ontario. I grew up here and it’s amazing that at one point in my life I didn’t run. Running where I grew up reminds me of how far I have come.
What’s your go-to pre- or post-run meal?
Pre-run is always 1/2 cup of coffee and peanut butter toast. Post run usually involves more coffee and whatever I have time to scarf down before my daughter wakes up!
What makes you a badass?
My sister and I coach a running group called Mums Who Run and we meet at 5 a.m. every Saturday to make sure we are home in time to spend quality time with our families. We ran our first 50-miler this weekend!
How will you celebrate Global Running Day?
Running, of course! Our summer trail running clinic starts June 1 so we will be running hills for sure!
