After winning bronze in the 10,000 meters at the IAFF World Championships, Kara ran her first marathon in 2:25:52, the fastest debut by an American woman in history. Most recently, Kara ran a personal record in the 2011 Boston Marathon—just six months after giving birth to her first child.
