door — Hotels like the Blacksmith Inn in the Baileys Harbor town of Door County are situated right along the water’s edge.

Whitefish — The Whitefish Dunes State Park is home to the tallest sand dune in Wisconsin, standing at 93 feet.

Cana — Tourists cross the natural causeway between Green Bay and Lake Michigan to reach Cana Island, on which stands the Cana Island Lighthouse.

Peninsula — The 2-mile Eagle Trail at Peninsula State Park is densely populated with trees and dotted with caves in the surrounding rock walls.

Eagle — This cave overlooking Eagle Harbor is one of many along Eagle Trail at Peninsula State Park.

Observation — Deep inside Potawatomi State Park is this 75-foot observation tower. Though the steps are creaky, it’s worth climbing to the top to take in the views below.

Fred — Fred & Fuzzy’s Waterfront Bar and Grill has indoor seating, but it’s way more fun to sit at the tables on the grass and watch the sun set over Little Sister Bay.

Door — Like coffee? Door County Coffee & Tea Company makes it fresh–and serves delicious breakfast options to boot, like this yogurt parfait.

Baileys — Baileys Harbor is surrounded by quiet inns with docks like this one and is the launch point of the Door County Adventure Rafting boat tours.

Kayak — A kayak rests on the dock beside Sturgeon Bay in Potawatomi State Park.
