We are a tad biased when one of our own cover runner contest winners starts her own amazing podcast! Lindsey Hein, our 2014 cover runner contest winner, just announced her new program that will go live in April. And like she says on her Instagram, you’re probably wondering about the title—”I’ll Have Another.” We asked her about the inspiration behind that and much more when we chatted with her about the new project:
Women’s Running: How did the idea of starting a podcast originally come about? They are definitely rising quickly in popularity!
Lindsey Hein: I started listening to podcasts last summer and fell in love with listening to them on easy runs. It all started with “Serial” (like the rest of the world) and then I started listening to some “This American Life.” The show that really inspired me to start my show is the “Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey.” She hosts a faith-based podcast and talks to different girlfriends each week about all kinds of great stuff.

WR: Everyone is asking—what’s with the name?
LH: The name “I’ll Have Another” actually came from my sister! I have two sisters and they were helping me brainstorm a name—we had a text message chain of about 100 different ideas and my younger sister came up with this little gem. Her thoughts were, I’ll have another vodka-diet coke. My thoughts were, I’ll have another mile…I’ll have another glass of wine…etc. So the whole point is, if someone asked If you what do you want another of, what would it be?! Let’s talk about those things!
WR: Love it! What other podcasts would you say are your favorites?
LH: “The Happy Hour” with Jamie Ivey, “Run to the Top” with Tina Muir and “She Podcasts” with Elsie and Jessica
WR: Who are you most excited to have on the show (if you can share that!)?
LH: Oh gosh, I really want to bring on Mindy Kaling—can we rally for that? I emailed her PR team and got the kibosh, but hey I’ll keep trying.
WR: That would be amazing! What are some of the main goals of creating this podcast?
LH: My goal for the show is to create a community of people who are supporting each other and making each other laugh. I want this to be fun for everyone—so far I have really enjoy having these conversations and I want those listening to feel like they could jump in on the conversation with us at any time.
WR: Is the program all about running, or is it about other things in life, with a splash of running too?
LH: It’s not all about running! I do have a lot of runners on the show—especially in the first few episodes, but I’m going to be talking with all sorts of individuals who I find interesting and inspiring. My guests will include athletes, entrepreneurs, non-profit and business leaders and hopefully some comedians—basically people that will make you want to shoot for some big goals and people who are going to make you laugh and appreciate the silly, maybe-not-so-important-things in life.
WR: That sounds great! What is the easiest way for people to find your podcast when it goes live next month?
LH: The show will be on iTunes and you’ll be able to find it at LindseyHein.com/Itunes. I will also have all of that info up on my website. April 6th is my goal launch date and I will be launching with four episodes at once! My guests on those four episodes include Laura Anderson, Christie Beth Adams, Ericka Sylvester and Shelby Gil (Ericka and Shelby are on the same episode, my sister episode!) and Molly Ludlow. There is a lot of women’s running talk in these first few episodes!
