On the hit Showtime drama Dexter, Jennifer Carpenter plays rough-around-the-edges detective Debra Morgan. But on the set of her Women’s Running cover shoot, Carpenter was the picture of poise. We had a blast shooting this graceful and charismatic star!

RUNS ON COFFEE
We had a full spread catered by Whole Foods, but it remained untouched. Jennifer was too nervous to eat! She did, however, sip coffee and swap NYC restaurant suggestions with our photographer between shots.
The whole team had a blast working with Jennifer.

Posing while running is harder than it looks. Despite Jennifer’s anxiety about hitting her mark, she nailed shot after shot. She was pleasantly surprised, checking the monitor and exclaiming, “Oh, my gosh! I love that one! No, I love that one more than the last!”
To create a breezy effect for Jennifer’s hair, stylist Harry Josh played the part of director’s assistant. In the windless studio, he stood outside the frame holding up his blow dryer on full blast.
