On a steamy June afternoon in Brooklyn, Aviva Drescher walked into our cover shoot in true Manhattanite fashion, dressed in black from head to toe. But the “Real Housewife of New York” wasn’t arriving after a glamorous brunch; she was coming straight from dropping her children off at school. Throughout the shoot, the reality star shined as she let her glamorous edge show on camera and shared her sweet, down-to-earth personality with the crew.
Photographer James Farrell arrived with a crew of three: lighting assistant Carl Chisolm, photo editor Andrew Closson and puppy Sophie. It was love at first sight for Sophie and Aviva— and for Sophie and the electrical cords. Proof that if you’re this cute, you can get away with murder.
LEGS FOR DAYS
Aviva has been running with a prosthesis since an accident at age 6 required amputation. The mother of four runs up to five days a week using an incredibly authentic looking athletic limb. (She has a number of artificial legs for various purposes, including swimming and high heels).
Want more Aviva? Who wouldn’t! Learn all about the star’s story in her brand-new memoir, Leggy Blonde. It hits shelves in February—but you can preorder your copy on Amazon today. amazon.com
ALL DOLLED UP
Aviva’s goto stylist, Angelo David, was on hand to provide the runner with the perfect pony, while Dani Fonseca used Celebre HD Pro Cream and Geranium Cheek Cream from Mehron to give her skin a dewy glow. “You look like Barbie!” exclaimed Aviva’s publicist after she was done.
A craving for grilled chicken salad had us calling up nearby farm-to-table caterer Urban Rustic before the shoot. “Thank you so much!” exclaimed Aviva when the early lunch arrived. “I needed protein!”
For the cover look, Aviva chose a baby blue New Balance Seamless Genius Sports Bra and Oiselle Stride Short. Later she changed into a purple Nike seamless long-sleeved and New Balance capris.
