Behind the Shoot: Padma Lakshmi

Go behind the scenes of our October cover shoot with Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi.

Supermodel-turned-Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi knows a thing or two about looking good in front of a camera. Tapping into her years of modeling, acting, and testing the best bites from tomorrow’s star chefs in front of millions of viewers, the India-born New Yorker worked the crowd in our Brooklyn studio—her gorgeous hair and killer jawline adding extra zest to every photo. Spotify rang through the speakers with tunes from the Black Keys and MGMT, but it was definitely Padma that kept the energy going!

Final Stretch

Padma loosened up before jumping into her first run shot of the day. She looked glamorous as always in our awesome cover look— Reebok Watch Me Work It Bra ($40, reebok.com), Lululemon Groove Short ($48, lululemon.com) and New Balance 1400v2 shoes ($100, newbalance.com).

Man’s Best Friend

Our photographer brought his dog, Sofie, to the shoot—and she instantly became the day’s mascot. Is a four-legged buddy a crucial a crew member? We think so!

OMG, Shoes!

We brought tons of bright choices for Padma to ogle at and choose from for her cover moment. After circulating through a handful of options, she landed on some really cute New Balance kicks!

Top Eats

Urban Rustic is always a winning choice for our staff—the crew noshed on various dishes from the popular Brooklyn eatery just blocks from the studio.

Group Shot

The day was long, but the energy remained high all the way to the end. The crew grouped together for one last photo to celebrate another successful WR cover shoot.
