I have a bad habit
of keeping things
far longer
than I should—
old receipts, birthday cards
from my orthodontist,
paper pads from hotels for
my nonexistent office.
But I know
there is a time
at the end of the race,
before the finishing tape
when everything
must go—
I promise.
