On November 6th, 2011 a team led by Christy Turlington Burns will run the ING New York City Marathon to raise funds and awareness for Every Mother Counts (EMC). EMC is an organization seeking to prioritize resources, education and heath-care in the battle against maternal mortality. While a woman dies every 90 seconds from complications of pregnancy and childbirth, 90% of these deaths are preventable, and EMC is dedicated to increasing public awareness of and support for improved maternal and child health.
How can you help? Turlington Burns is calling on people around the country to run or walk a 5k on marathon morning in solidarity with her team of ten.
