December is here, bringing with it some major holiday cheer. We have rounded up some important dates this month that every runner needs to add to their calendar. Here’s what you need to know about.
Cheer On Champs
At the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships on December 10, the top 40 girls and 40 boys from U.S. high schools run through Balboa Park in San Diego for the title of National Champion.
Heat Things Up
On National Cocoa Day on December 12, warm up after a chilly run with a rich, frothy cup. Not only does it taste yummy, but the powder made from the fermented seeds of the cacao tree has a healthy mix of protein, fat and carbohydrates—plus, it’s a tasty source for manganese, copper, magnesium and iron.
Celebrate The Circulator Of Om
December 14 marks what would be the 98th birthday of B. K. S. Iyengar. His name may not sound familiar, but Iyengar is the man largely responsible for the global spread of yoga. Namaste.
Say Goodbye To Another Year
Kick off New Year’s Eve on December 31 right with a new tradition: Watch the last sunset of the year while on a run—don’t forget your headlamp!
