2018 NYC Marathon Pro Women’s Fields
This year’s TCS New York City Marathon professional women’s fields are shaping up to be the most exciting in recent history. Today, New York Road Runners announced that three-time champion Mary Keitany (KEN) and 2016 third-place finisher Molly Huddle (USA) will join defending champion Shalane Flanagan (USA) and 2018 Boston Marathon champion Desiree Linden (USA) on the course—and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Returning top 10 competitors also include Mamitu Daska (ETH), who finished third in 2017; Stephanie Bruce (USA), who finished 10th in 2017; and Allie Kieffer (USA), who finished fifth in 2017. Other notable competitors include 2018 London Marathon winner Vivian Cheruiyot (KEN), surprise second-place 2018 Boston Marathon finisher Sarah Sellers (USA) and 2018 USATF Half Marathon Championships winner Aliphine Tuliamuk (USA).
The Top 10 Finishers At The 2017 TCS NYC Marathon
In the wheelchair division, Manuela Schar of Switzerland will defend her title against five-time champion Tatyana McFadden (USA) and one-time champion Amanda McGrory (USA).
“With Mary, Vivian, Shalane, Des, Tatyana and Manuela, this year’s TCS New York City Marathon is stacked with some of the most competitive women’s professional athlete fields ever to compete in New York,” NYRR President of Events and TCS NYC Marathon Race Director Peter Ciaccia said in an official press release. “In the open division, the best group of American women marathoners will be assembled since the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials, and along with Mary and Vivian, the competition will be fierce. In the wheelchair division, with Tatyana chasing after history, this year’s race is bound to have a storybook ending.”
