With today’s release of Carrie Underwood’s sixth album Cry Pretty, I’ve been brushing up on her bio. Therein, I’ve found a range of accomplishments—American Idol champ, member of the Grand Ole Opry, seven-time Grammy winner and so on. But the detail that piqued my interest most was her entry in the Guinness Book of World Records. Apparently, Underwood achieved the honor after becoming the first female country artist with 10 number-one singles to her credit; then—to solidify her record—she added four more. Given this remarkable string of hits, we’ve compiled a few of her best songs to score your next run.
The playlist warms up with the early favorite “Before He Cheats” and cools down with the title track from Underwood’s new LP. In between, you’ll find solo cuts like “Blown Away” and “Cowboy Casanova.” Rounding those out are country collaborations with Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban alongside a Super Bowl anthem on which she worked with Ludacris. With luck, you can use some of Carrie’s chart longevity to give your own efforts a second wind. When you’re ready to race, you’ll find excellent company in the tunes below.
