Time May Change Me
Change is a constant in life. Whether we like it or not, things don’t stay the same. Learning to navigate change successfully is one of the keys to living a healthy and happy life. And for runners, accepting change is a must. From adjusting to short-term injuries to dealing with chronic conditions, maintaining a consistent running routine means constant adaptations to your body’s abilities and limitations. We’ve added a new regular column in our January/February 2018 issue, Running At Every Age (page 32), to address some of these inevitable changes for runners. No matter where you are in your running life, we are bringing you tips on running strategies as your body changes, inspiring stories from runners at every stage of life and insight into running as a way of life.
You’ll notice some other new additions to the magazine as well. We’ve added a recurring column where the editors test out runner essentials to bring you the best of the things you use the most, in our new section called We Tried It (page 16). This month we put dozens of lip balms to the test over miles of road and trails to bring you the best lip hydration options available.
To keep you plugged into what’s happening in the racing world, we’ve added a new section dedicated to profiling inspiring runners who are leaving their mark on the sport in Meet The Elite (page 29). We know how busy life gets, so we’ve created a new column, Weeknight Winners (page 42), to keep your body fueled with tasty, nutritious and affordable options that are easy to make after a long day at work, school or wherever you spend your time.
As we kick off another year of running, racing and recovering, we are here to give you ideas on how to make your days easier, from strategies to keep your training on track while you travel in Road Warrior (page 18) to revisiting—or perhaps learning for the first time—the keys to good running techniques in The Fundamentals of Running (page 60), to a trio of plans to get your body and mind back on track after the holidays in Your Best Year Ever (page 54).
You’ll notice more changes in the magazine and at womensrunning.com over the next few months as we work on new ways to continue to bring you the best running advice and guidance available, along with industry news and inspiring stories of fellow runners. Because while most things change, our commitment to you, dear readers, never waivers. It is a joy and privilege for everyone at Team WR to spend our days (and some nights!) working to bring you the best content to inspire and support you on your runs and in your life. How we run and why we run may change over time, but one thing never does—WE RUN.
