Can I run a half marathon if I’ve never done a race before?
It’s definitely possible! Just about anyone can do any race distance if she has completed the proper training in advance. I would recommend finding a training group or a coach so that you can better ensure a successful first race. Since you have never raced before, it is crucial to have a slow progression with your training so that you minimize the risk of injury.
That said, do consider finishing a 5K or 10K beforehand (just as a part of your training) to help you get the feel for the race-day vibes. I bet you will find that not only will you have a better idea of what to expect, but it will also get you excited and more pumped up for your half marathon!
