The Unity Kinvara 9 is the latest shoe release in the Breast Cancer Awareness Month cannon.
At the beginning of last year if you would have told me I would be wearing Skechers as my go-to running shoe, I would have laughed at you. In my mind, Skechers were still the shoes with big, chunky soles that everyone wore in junior high. They were old news.
That all changed when I tried the GOrun 4 (because who doesn’t want to be like Kara Goucher?) and I saw that thanks to Skechers Performance, the company was truly making a comeback.
When I had the opportunity to try to GOrun Forza—their first stability shoe—as a runner with scoliosis (making one of my hips is higher than the other) I had to see what support their latest offering could give me on the roads. This shoe did not disappoint.
I have had some experience with stability shoes in the past—I used to run in the New Balance 1500v2, which only offered light stability—and my gait feels much more balanced in the GOrun Forza. At only 8.2oz, they are also very lightweight and help me avoid the ‘slapping’ that can come with larger, heavier shoes.
Because they have designed firm medial posting—this is a piece of Skechers Resalyte Technology that is in the midsole of the shoe to assist with stabilization of the foot—the foot moves smoothly from heel-to-toe without rolling. This is important for me especially as my feet hit the ground a little differently and need extra support.
If you are in need of a stability shoe and want to give Skechers’ first offering of its kind a spin, I highly suggest following in Kara and Meb’s footsteps and giving the brand a go (pun intended).
